Today, as we celebrate the fourth birthday of our cherished canine companion, July, we are prompted to reflect on the importance of this occasion. May 8th commemorates Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), symbolizing the end of the war in Europe. It’s fitting that July embodies the spirit of victory in her own right.
Named in honor of the Fourth of July, she holds a special place in our hearts as a symbol of freedom, joy, and resilience. She may be a black miniature schnauzer, but her spirit shines brightly, lighting up our lives with her intelligence, mischief, and unwavering loyalty.
July’s bond with my daughter is unbreakable but her loyalty extends to our entire family – me, husband, and two sons. Like a shadow, she follows my husband wherever he goes, a testament to the special connection they share. Despite her demanding nature, July’s love knows no bounds.
Intelligent and cunning, July has a knack for getting her way. She will only listen and perform tricks if there are treats involved, proving that she’s not above a little bribery. And while she may forget her diminutive size when confronting our neighbor’s mastiff, her confidence knows no bounds. Yet, for all her bravado, July has a softer side. Her velvety soft coat invites snuggles and cuddles, providing warmth and comfort on even the coldest days.
July’s presence in our lives is not without its challenges. As asthma sufferers, my family and I sought a hypoallergenic companion, and July seemed like a perfect fit. Little did we know that she, too, would have her own health struggles, requiring daily medications.
Despite the added costs, July is worth every penny. From her gourmet treats to her grooming sessions, she brings joy and laughter into our home each day. While she might demand a lot of attention, she remains our pampered princess.
Here’s to many more years of snuggles, treats, and unforgettable memories with our beloved miniature schnauzer!
